A sudden wave of a strange, incurable illness has swept the continent. Over the past few months, in a last ditch effort to rid themselves of the malady, a growing number of people have been arriving in halfling city seeking aid. The constant influx of outsiders has stretched the hospital’s resources to it’s breaking point.
Unusual creatures have been spotted across the land and the druids of woods started to look into their source. After coming with the forest they realized that the boundary between planes has blurred and the overlap it’s allowing the beings to pass though to the material plane.
For generations the halflings have listened to the resonant hum of the Standing Stones, which they have used as a guide on when to sow their fields and for the best time to harvest. Without warning, the normal low rumble turned into a discordant chord. As a result, their harvests have become less reliable and there’s concerns that something devious is as work.
(Sub-plot to be added to where the festival is) A local brewery has crafted a new ale and debuted it at a local festival. Anyone who drank it fell into a deep hallucination and became trapped, unable to wake. An alchemist was brought in to study their condition and says the only way to break them from it’s grasp is to enter their dream realm to fight off the malevolence but so far none have dared to try.
