The Silent Siphon: The nation of Brynnmor has been secretly poaching high level scholars from the academies of Zhal’desh in an effort to create a new education program and to learn more about their northern neighbor’s secrets. Leaders of Zhal’desh have become aware of the threat and have been putting pressure on the universities to restrict access to their facilies to outsiders and monitor their staff’s communications.

The Razen Incursion: A Zhal’desh crime syndicate called The Razen, has moved their operation to the northern border and is harassing trade caravans along The Common Thread between Zhal’desh and Liekia, further straining the already tense relationship between the two bitter rivals. Both nations have increased patrols in the area but this has only led to confrontations when they meet.

The Qanat Crisis: The provincial leaders in the temperate uplands of Zhal’desh have recently cut off the desert lowlands from shipments of food and timber in a dispute over water rights. In response, shipments of building materials and rare critical minerals have stopped flowing inland toward the capitol. Representatives from both sides have begun fanning the flames trying to rally the population to their side. If the rhetoric isn’t toned down, it could lead to violence or all out civil war.
