The Sovereign’s Foil

The Sovereign’s Foil

A whisper of razor sharp steel, holding no ancient magic but the king’s cold law.

Public Knowledge

The iconic weapon of Liekian kings, this rapier has been at the sides of monarchs going back generations and is featured as a uniform accoutrement at all state functions and formal addresses to the nation.

It’s not just a statement piece, however. The kings of the past have been known to brandish it in combat and while the kings of today will not be found on the front lines in battle, they continue to use it as a symbol of their strength and courage.

Appearance

The blade is forged from dense, matte-gret Liekian steel. It’s edge is razor sharp, causing an almost frictionless cut when biting into armor or flesh. The hilt is made of an interlocking cage of iron, protecting the hand during battle. Fine, unadorned leather is wrapped around the grip and is worn smooth from frequent handling. A perfectly square pommel, stamped with the sigil of Liekia, is the only adornment. It’s perfectly balanced and has no visibil runes or innate magical aura.

Curse of the Sovereign: The wielder hears a faint, collective whispering of thousands of courtly voices. It is too quiet to understand, but it never stops.
